In the recent death of rapper XXXTentacion many have been in mourning trying to remember all of the good that he has done and how he has inspired others. Many critics have labeled XXXTentacion as the modern day 2Pac, in regards to his lyrics, impact, and cause of death.
XXXTentacion was supposedly shot dead by two armed men at a motorcycle dealership while shopping for cars. The rapper just started receiving the benefits of his music and getting to know the feeling of the rise to stardom before he was tragically killed.

Just like all rappers, XXX had a past. He was no angel and did make mistakes, immoral decisions, and was accused of heinous acts. The artist was accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend and threatening her which ultimately left her with much emotional damage and a black eye. This incident damaged his image which is not good for business.

Tentacion's music did not shed a positive light on his life. Many of his messages were about suicide, death, pain, and rage. Although his messages were not very positive and uplifting, his music inspired others to keep living and help them battle with depression just like he was. His music inspired a new generation of the followers of rap. In this day in age many of the millennials or Generation Y and Z are struggling with mental health issues and to them XXXTentacion's music was the way to actually feel the pain and have the ability to release it in the music.
Despite his influence to impact the youth, his legacy caused question to whether he was a saint or just a rapper who got what was coming to him. This causes many to question whether the good that has done in the community trying to repair his image is overshadowed by all the wrong he has done.
The overall question that should be asked is whether or not a rapper's legacy should be based on just the music on the life he lived and the music? With the age of social media is it difficult to separate the two?
