Being an African-American or a Black American in this day in age seems to be a crime. Many rallies have been taken place in order to change the narrative but as more marches and walks take place more bodies continue to drop.

In the past couple of the months over the summer, the country has seen instances where white people have taken matters into their own hands and have thought that their way to handle a situation was the correct way. Recently a black teenager Nia Wilson was brutally murdered by being stabbed to death by a white male. There was no motive besides race to the attack and the black minority community all over the country is pulling for justice.

There have been occasions where white people have called the police on African-Americans or Black Americans for either selling lemonade or having a BBQ. This is crazy! The internet has made memes out of the situations that happened. BBQ Becky, Permit Patty , and Coupon Carl have all been made into memes due to twitter and these people have been shamed by many in the world.

Is being Black in America a crime? Can this be stopped? How can a group of people be more effective in their efforts to stop police brutality and mend race relations in this country? These are all questions that many people around the country are asking. Are there right and wrong answers but is this just a gray area subject.

As the world is becoming more eco-friendly so should food menus. Not everyone is a carnivore or a pescatarian as most restaurants cater to these types of eating lifestyles. There is a growing number of vegans and vegetarians and because of the selection that most restaurants give, options are limited and that hinders other guests who may be accompanying this person to have to give up going to their favorite spot. In large metro areas like New York City it is not very difficult to find places that serve a beyond burger or seitan. It is when a vegetarian/vegan goes on these outskirts to Long Island or even out of state where the problem arises.

More restaurants have been popping up around like Veggie Castle, Veggie Grill, and Urban Vegan Kitchen. However, when friends go to Dallas BBQs, vegetarian and vegans are now left with getting a garden salad and fries to try to satisfy their appetite. There is no question of whether or not this is an injustice to a growing percentage of people in this country. There have been improvements shown with different chains like Red Robin and Fridays bringing veggie burgers and beyond burgers to the menu but it is not enough. All restaurants should have a vegetarian/vegan menu.

Is the .05 charge for bags that the Governor of New York implemented in Suffolk County really helping the environment? I doubt it, but people do try to now minimize how many bags they purchase or remember their reusable bags when they can. Earlier this year, Governor Cuomo created a law that would hit Suffolk County, Long Island residents where it hurt, charging customers for not being eco-friendly. Yes, when people use the reusable bags it does help with the environment, but when a person forgets bags and has to pay .05 for each bag that is not really helping the situation. This just puts the guilt on the consumer for not making eco-friendly decisions rather than the government.

This has been popping up all over the country. Government wants to make eco-friendly solutions but not eliminate the problem. This is not helping the environment at all but allowing to just change the hands of responsibility. If stores only sold reusable bags and not created this .05 rule then more people would be inclined to bring their reusable bag because paying $1 at stores like TJMaxx would hurt more then .05 in someone’s pocket. Also consumers know that the .05 bags are there so even if they are going to the store only to pick up a few items, it does not register in that person’s mind to bring their reusable bag and they end up paying the .10 for two bags.
